Collection: Capsule 26.01
It was love at first sight. Well, loves. Three pieces, one red, one blue, and one green, that I came across when I started training. Shino was the glaze, a 16th-century Japanese technique that creates a mottled, milky-white surface graced by blooms of color from the kiln’s heat.
When we started Dumais Made a few years later, Shino was obviously on the original glaze list. One red, one blue, and one green, of course. But no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the glaze to work.
Long story short, I gave up, forgot about it for almost a decade, came across a stunning blue Shino lamp with a goatskin shade by Luis Barragán and Hugo X. Velásquez in LA last year, gave Shino another go, found 16 goatskin shades in an antique shop, and voila, Capsule 26.01 was born. (Full story on our socials for those who are curious.)
It’s an incredibly special collection of 16 lamps. All are an incredibly limited edition of one. Limited, not because we want to keep them scarce, but because there were only sixteen goatskin shades in the shop’s collection.
